Private investments are needed to step in the significant investment gap for water and sanitation services. Financing through loans has the potential to provide flexibility and increase funding options for WASH service delivery. There is a need for a paradigm shift in water resource management to expand water security and adapt to climate change. The water and the infrastructure finance communities need both to take a step forward to achieve this. We must move away from traditional water-centric management towards holistic coordination. Water-Energy-Food-Environment (WEFE) Nexus approaches and decision-making tools can inform participatory cross-sectorial decision making for water-energy-food and environmental security.
